Department: International Student Programs (ISP)
Work Schedule: Up to 19 hours per week during the quarter, and up to 40 hours during the break (depending on the departmental needs). May include occasional evenings and weekends.
Wage: $16.66 per hour and will increase each calendar year with the Washington state minimum wage.
Location: Primarily on Highline College’s campus; some events may occur off-site.

Position Summary
The student worker in this multifaceted role will be responsible for coordinating ISP’s quarterly orientation, planning and executing various events, managing volunteers, and implementing social media marketing strategies to promote ISP activities. This position offers a unique opportunity for a dynamic and organized student to gain valuable experience in event planning, volunteer management, and social media marketing within a community college setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Orientation – outside of regular academic quarter; may exceed 19 hours per week:
- Assist with quarterly new student orientations, including any off-campus social events
- Greet new ISP students during Campus View Move-In day
- Communicate with incoming students by email under supervision of ISP Staff
Event Coordination:
- Plan, organize, and execute on-campus events such as workshops, cultural events, and student engagement activities
- Coordinate logistics, including venue booking, catering, equipment setup, and liaising with vendors
- Ensure events align with the college’s mission and objectives.
- Meet with ISP staff regularly
Volunteer Management:
- Recruit, train, and manage a pool of student volunteers to support various campus events
- Assign tasks and responsibilities to volunteers, ensuring smooth event execution
- Foster a positive and inclusive volunteer community
Social Media Marketing:
- Develop and implement social media strategies to promote ISP events and activities
- Create engaging content for various platforms, including Facebook & Instagram
- Monitor social media channels, respond to inquiries, and encourage student participation
- Take photos and videos of engagement activities. Some minimal photo and video editing may be requested
ISP Departmental Needs:
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled as a college student at Highline College, taking 6 or more credits per quarter
- High academic performance (GPA of 3.0 or higher)
- 18 years or older (preferred)
- If you are an F-1 international student, you must have completed all required orientation workshops, and you must be in status with a valid Highline I-20
- Preference for students who can commit to at least 1 academic year (3 quarters)
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent English communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
- Creative mindset with a passion for event planning and marketing
- Basic knowledge of social media platforms and marketing strategies
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Ability to lift 20 lb and pull a cart across campus
- Ability to work on occasional weekends and evenings. This position is also expected to work during the breaks in between quarters.
