D-Center Student Leader – Outreach and Communications Specialist
The D Center Student Leader is responsible for serving as one of two primary staff support at the D Center. The main duties of the D Center Student Leaders are to be present during D Center open hours, collect data on student needs, provide students with vital resources, and create an inclusive environment for students of all sexual and gender identities, orientations, and expressions. The D Center Student Leader collaborates with Accessibility Resources, CLS, CCIE, and other campus partners to build a more responsive and inclusive campus for all students.
Duties and responsibilities:
D-Center direct support
- Attend regular meetings and communication with AR and CLS teams
- Maintain a clean, inviting, respectful, and accessible space with relevant resources and activities
- Consistently collect data from D Center visitors through feedback forms
- Actively recruit interested students for shared leadership opportunities
- Increase awareness of disability issues on campus by developing programming and advertising that highlights the D Center’s work
- Initiate discussions between other student groups, clubs, and ASHC for collaboration for events and programming
- Work with AR and other campus partners to set up, organize and run events
- Plan and order refreshments for events
- Draft forms and surveys for feedback on events
- Monitor D Center email, responding to and forwarding inquiries as necessary
- Create and monitor D Center calendar including use of space by auxiliary groups
- Other duties as assigned
Campus involvement
- Participate in leadership and diversity trainings provided through AR, CLS, and CCIE
- Attend meetings and training with CLS/CCIE core leaders
- Be a D Center representative at campus resource fairs
- Provide assistance in coordinating D Center programming
- Promote D Center offerings on the campus calendar and distribute flyers
- Research student-requested resources
Community outreach
- Outreach and network with local organizations and educational institutions
- Monitor and post on D Center social media sites
- Serve as a D Center ambassador in the wider community

Work expectations:
- Registered for at least 6 credits and a minimum of 2.5 cumulative GPA each quarter.
- Students will participate in a quarterly reflective evaluation to help identify leadership strengths and challenges during the duration of the position.
- Students can expect to work up to 15 hours per week. This position pays WA minimum wage.
