Reporting to the Library Circulation Services Supervisor, this position is customer service-oriented within the library floors 2-4 of Building 25 at Highline College. Work is primarily at the front Circulation Desk.
Qualifications:
- Proficient enough in English Language skills with reading / writing / speaking to perform job tasks
- Demonstrate professional communication skills while working in a diverse, multicultural environment
- Some knowledge of Highline College campus and departments
- Ability to work independently without constant supervision, and maintain confidentiality
- Experience using Highline College electronic resources Canvas, ctcLink; and Microsoft applications
- Experience shelving books in a library using the Dewey Decimal System; preferred, will train
- Curious, creative, and willing to learn new things
- Must always be on time to work; willing to work closing shifts
Responsibilities:
- Assist students / faculty / general public at the 2nd floor Circulation Desk
- Perform basic library circulation: check materials in and out; renew books on loan
- Accurately answer directional questions about Highline campus and campus departments
- Assist students who need help using library printers or copy machines
- Learn the Dewey Decimal System; assist library staff with locating library materials
- Assist with maintaining a neat and orderly library environment
- May assist with library closing procedures
- Assist with evacuating the building during fire drills
General physical requirements:
- Continually move throughout the library to assist students, and perform essential functions of the position
- Stand and/or sit for extended period of time
- Able to push loaded book carts
- Occasionally access materials that may be above head or at ground level
