Work Schedule: Varies Monday-Thursday based on student schedule, Sunday 2:00pm – 6:00pm
Wage: $16.66
Must be Work-Study Eligible only.
What is Work Study? If you receive Financial Aid you may be eligible for Work Study. Running Start Students and International Students are not eligible for Work Study.
Position Description
Under general direction, the Library Reader/Tech Tutor will provide front-line customer service for students, faculty, and staff, at the front desk of the library and assisting with the Reader Buddy Program.
Reporting directly to the Associate Dean of the Library & Student Learning Resources
Essential Tasks
Library Reader
Help choose appropriate books to read, lead the reading of children’s books to children in person on Sunday at the Highline College Library or online via Zoom.
Library Assistant
- Assist students/faculty/public at the 2nd floor Circulation Desk with general directions
- Assist students with using Info Commons computers and printers
- Assist Library staff with closing the library at 6pm on Sundays
- Assist students who need help using library printers or copy machines
- Assist with maintaining a neat and orderly library environment
- Assist with evacuating the building during emergencies
Qualifications
- Able to independently manage and prioritize multiple tasks
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working with children
- Ability to provide help to others and accept help from others
Preferred Skills & Abilities
- Bilingual/multilingual
- Interest in early childhood education, literacy, or storytelling
- Experience working with a diverse student population
- Experience working with children
- Responsible, professional, flexible, and dependable
